The Spurs team is lacking in terms of star power, at least compared to the loaded teams in the league today but their system has never been built on that. The Spurs’ system is flexible and truly brings the best out of the role players they have This is mainly because the Spurs share the ball and have an iron-clad offensive policy, no good shots will be taken only great looks are acceptable. This unselfishness will always keep teams on their toes and optimize the talent the Spurs have.
The Spurs always go into the playoffs with a fresh and well-rested roster of players. They simply refuse to wear their players down and this pays off in the long run. Manu Ginobili’s career should of been over a few years ago but careful minute-management has extended his lifespan on the court. This same concept will insure that team-leader Kawhi Leonard will be ready to go. He has proven to be unstoppable in the postseason, even the Warriors couldn’t stop him when he was healthy.
1) Great Defense:
The Spurs were the number one team in the NBA defensively and they show no signs at slowing down. They have the best perimeter defender in the game in Kawhi and his effort has set the tone for the franchise. The Spurs’ defense will always give them a chance to win--defense truly wins championships. The secret to dethroning the Warriors doesn’t lie on the offensive end.
