3) History:
  • It's been over 55 years since someone has averaged a triple-double during a season and Westbrook is only a handful of games away from accomplishing this feat. The great Oscar Robertson was the last player to do it and the fact that Westbrook is close to achieving this in the modern era is spectacular. He just recently notched his 40th triple- double (40pts-13rebs-10a), putting him two away from breaking the record for TD’s in a season held by Robertson.

2) Rebounding/Height:
  • Westbrook has always been a scorer and he has recently worked on his passing game but the most impressive stat is easily his rebound numbers. He is on track to become the shortest player in NBA history to average ten rebounds in a season. At a height of 6 feet 3 inches that is an amazing feat and arguably the hardest stat to keep up with. Rebounds often require extra focus, desire, and edge to garner; Westbrook has proven to be fearless in the paint.

1) Durant-Drama:
  • The Oklahoma City Thunder  was a team built around Kevin Durant and he practically abandoned the franchise for the Golden State Warriors. Westbrook upon hearing this news immediately signed an extension with OKC and infused life back into the organization. This team could have easily missed the playoffs but Westbrook carried this team on his back to a respectable sixth seed in the mighty Western Conference. He did so while averaging 32 ppg 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
