Manu Ginobili has extended his career because of his great ability to prepare for games. The Spurs have done well limiting his minutes but Manu has done well stretching and participating in pre-game regimes. The verteren could pass some of this knowledge to the young point guard Dejounte Murray, instilling good habits in the budding star. Murray seems eager to get better and likely will be very receptive to Manu’s advice.
2) Popovich Peeves:
Manu Ginobili has been with the Spurs his entire career and he has managed to stay on the good side of Coach Gregg Popovich, despite having one of the most unconventional styles the game has ever seen. He could give key advice to Murray on how to stay on the good side of Popovich, infusing Murray with tips on running the team and how to pick your spots to look for individual offense. Manu will likely see some time at the point guard this season, showing Murray how it is done.
1) King of Drives:
Murray is a guard that likes to attack the basket and the painted area, Manu can assist him with this endeavour. Manu, even at forty, can somehow still slither his way to the basket every now and then. He has shown that ball-handling ability is sometimes just as important as speed. Murray could learn some tricks of the trade to increase his success rate in the paint--mixing some of Manu’s wisdom with his youth.
