3) Model Citizen:
  • LeBron James is the most scrutinized player in sports and that isn’t necessarily fair to the 4-time MVP. Professional sports are full of scandals every year and LeBron is always miles away from conflict or scandal. He has represented the NBA excellently, taking his responsibility as a unofficial spokesmen for the league very seriously. He has had zero off the court scandals while being in the league. People uplift Steph Curry for being a family man as if LeBron hasn't been one all along. By all public accounts he has been a good husband and father, even promoting his family in his commercials. So many athletes aren’t role models, but LeBron truly is.

2) Giving Back:
  • James has always been vocal about giving back to the community and uplifting Cleveland--an often forgotten poverty stricken area. His foundation has been very pivotal in the education sector as well. They forked out over 41 million dollars to send 1100 kids to college. This move is an unprecedented show of support and faith in kids that often are forgotten. This will undoubtedly change the course of thousands of lives because these young men and women will strive to empower others. LeBron James has help start a healthy chain reaction and he doesn’t receive enough credit for these type of acts by the casual NBA fan.

1) Hate Crime:
  • No one would blame LeBron James for being irate about a racial slur being painted on his property but he handled the situation with a lot tact and class. He was visibly disturbed by the act but he used his platform not to show his anger but to heighten awareness. He didn’t use his platform to rant but to eloquently express his feelings, with this behavior he showed the perpetrators that they could not shake him or his family. He used this negative situation to spark a needed conversation across the country about race relations in 2017. LeBron James represents the NBA  well, but he represents black men and women even better.
